MEET  "Tank"

Tank is a 18 month old German Shepherd imported from Holland. He is currently being trained in drug detection, tracking, open-area searches,building searches, and officer protection and apprehension.

He is undergoing a 15 week K9 Academy training program by the Niagara Regional Police in Canada. He will be ready for duty after his training is complete. He is also being trained by Officer Brent Costello, of the Town of Tonawanda Police Department. Officer Costello is "Tank's" handler and partner.

***UPDATE:  On June 5, 2011 Green Acres Animal Hospital hosted a "Meet & Greet" for clients and residents of Tonawanda. It was a success! We raised funds to be used for Tank's bullet-proof vest through raffles and donations from local businesses. We would like to thank Tank & Officer Brent Costello as well as Lt. Detective Joe Carosi of the Town of Tonawanda Police Dept. for the opportunity to do something special for our community. Thanks to our reps, Brighton Fire and local vendors who helped make it a success!
